-------------- The Drug Free America Foundation. Click the link below, they are offering free educational videos and CDRoms. --------------- The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a component of the NIH (DHHS),has launched a new Website created to educate adolescents ages 11 through 15 (as well as their parents and teachers) on the science behind drug abuse: http://www.teens.drugabuse.gov NIDA enlisted the help of teens in developing the site to ensure that the content addresses appropriate questions and timely concerns. The site delivers science-based facts about how drugs affect the brain and body so that kids will be armed with better information to make healthy decisions. Elements such as animated illustrations, quizzes, and games are used throughout the site to clarify concepts, test the visitor's knowledge, and make learning fun through interaction. Marijuana, nicotine, ecstasy and steroids are the first drugs featured on this site. A primer on "The Brain and Addiction" summarizes the key concepts about how drugs affect the brain and defines addiction as a brain disease. Facts on different drugs will be added every few months (stay tuned for sections on inhalants and stimulants next), so please check back often. Fact sheets on the health effects of drugs-of-abuse and information on NIDA research and other activities can be found on the NIDA home page at: ---------------- Visit the Florida Regional Prevention Center at www.rpc-online.org ---------------- Run Drugs Out of Town Run provides avenues for non-profits to raise funds, visit them at: http://rundrugsoutoftownrun.org Read the Run Drugs out of Town Run newsletter here. ---------------- Visit the Juvenile Welfare Board's Pinellas Park site website at http://www.jwbpinellas.org
